Los Angeles Clippers: Trade Value Rankings
Austin Rivers
The Clippers are once again a pretty top-heavy team, which results in someone like Austin Rivers being their sixth-best trade asset.
It’s a shame that Rivers will miss at least a month after breaking his left hand, because he was really beginning to hit his stride.
Rivers averaged 9.6 points a game in January on 47.9 percent shooting and 36.1 percent three-point shooting before breaking his hand. Rivers has always been an offensive-minded player, but has really made his mark on the defensive end this season.
Rivers is owed only $3.3 million next season on a player option and is still only 23 years old. If Rivers tests the market in free agency, the Clippers will own his Bird rights and be able to match any deal given to Rivers.
It’s a bargain of a deal for a rotation player, someone capable of being thrown into a game for defensive purposes or being a pivotal role player in a key game or two like he was in the playoffs last season.
