Los Angeles Clippers: Trade Value Rankings
Paul Pierce
It feels like it was years since Pierce was “calling game” for the Wizards in the playoffs. It was actually less than a year ago, but you’d be forgiven if you just looked at the Pierce we’ve seen this season and came to the conclusion that there’s no way he’d be a go-to player on a playoff team.
In case you’ve missed it, Pierce is having career-lows pretty much across the board with 5.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting a horrific 34.3 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from downtown.
He’s had a few games where it appeared as if Pierce was turning his season around, like his 20-point performance against the Jazz on Dec. 26, but Pierce has yet to find his rhythm this season.
Still, Pierce has a bit of value as a true locker room leader with crunch-time chops. The Clippers didn’t sign Pierce to be great in the regular season and they’ve rested him so that Pierce can go back to calling game in the postseason. The Clippers have major reason to be concerned with Pierce’s play, but he can make everyone forget about his poor play if he shows up in major moments.
Pierce is 38 and has two more seasons on the contract he signed this offseason.
