1. Kahlil Felder, PG, Oakland Golden Grizzlies, Horizon League

The name most of the casual fans may be familiar with is also the mid-major player having the most impressive season.

Kahlil Felder made a name for himself by leading Oakland to an almost-upset of Michigan State earlier this season. In that game, Felder totaled 37 points on 10-of-22 shooting and nine assists while hitting 14 of his 18 free throws. Few have talked about him since that game, but Felder continues to impress.

On the season, Felder is averaging 24.7 points (fourth in the nation), 9.1 assists (first nationally), 2.0 steals (31st) and 3.8 rebounds. To compare to another point guard getting more recognition for being good in these fields, Providence’s Kriss Dunn averages 17.0 points, 6.7 assists (ninth), 3.1 steals (second) and 5.9 rebounds.

Nobody’s saying Felder is Dunn on the mid-major circuit, but he’s pretty close. They’re both good in multiple areas, both offensively and defensively, and shooting similar percentages (43/36/67 for Dunn; 43/36/85 for Felder) and Felder doesn’t have Ben Bentil to ease some of the pressure.

Felder was named the National Player of the Week for his numbers this past weekend and has been crushing opponents. He leads the pack right now and, should Oakland get past Valparaiso in the Horizon League, Felder could make some more headlines in the next month.
