NBA Trade Rumors: Who Should Trade For Hassan Whiteside?
1. New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans have a number of intriguing trade assets, including power forward Ryan Anderson, combo guard Tyreke Evans, and shooting guard Eric Gordon. In this scenario, either Anderson or Evans could be used as a bargaining chip to acquire Hassan Whiteside.
Between Whiteside and Anthony Davis, the Pelicans would have the single most dominant on-paper interior defense in the NBA.
Stylistically, this combination of players would work well. Davis operates primarily out of the mid-post offensively, with head coach Alvin Gentry helping Davis develop range beyond the 3-point line.
The question is, would Miami find it sufficient to receive some combination of Anderson, Evans and, perhaps, Kendrick Perkins as compensation?
Chances are, a third team or draft picks would need to be involved to help Miami get the full return on their investment. Anderson is a pending free agent, as well, and while dropping Josh McRoberts’ salary would be helpful, it likely won’t be enough to intrigue Pat Riley.

Due to the potential of a Davis and Whiteside pairing, however, New Orleans cannot complete the trade deadline without making an offer.
