Honorable Mention: Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are a chippy team. Patrick Beverley sets the tone as the trash-talking and physically defending point guard who takes no prisoners and dishes out a great deal of punishment to the players he’s assigned.

It may not be ideal to bring Hassan Whiteside into what interim head coach J.B. Bickerstaff described as a, “Broken,” culture, but he’s the type of player that Houston needs.

In this package, Houston’s offer would center around both Dwight Howard and Terrence Jones. That combination of players could set a move in motion, although it would prove incredibly costly for the Miami Heat.

A third team being brought into the discussion would change some of this, but coveted point guard Goran Dragic and Josh McRoberts‘ burden of a contract would likely have to be included.

Howard can opt out of his contract this coming summer, but he’s making more than $22 million—more than $21 million more than Whiteside. To make a trade work, multiple pieces would need to be included from Miami’s endwhich is a fair indication that this trade won’t happen.

Due to the fact that it’d be a relatively equal swap of talent, however, it deserves to be listed as an honorable mention.
