10. Phoenix Suns

The last thing the Phoenix Suns need is another guard to add to their backcourt logjam, but if general manager Ryan McDonough gets impatient in moving Markieff Morris, this is one option he could pursue. With Eric Bledsoe coming off his second meniscus injury in the last three years and Brandon Knight largely being a disappointment, Teague would supply the Suns with options moving forward.

Whether the Suns continue with their devotion to the dual point guard system remains to be seen, but if so, adding Teague might make Knight even more expendable than Devin Booker figures to make him in the coming years. Knight (24) is much younger than Teague, but he’s a woeful defender, a mediocre distributor and his high number of turnovers and streaky offense figure to make him a better sixth man than anything else.

  • Bledsoe is the best player on the Suns’ roster, so he won’t be going anywhere unless McDonough can swing a different deal for a superstar. In any case, Teague would give Phoenix options moving forward, especially if the Suns avoid a full-scale roster blow-up at the trade deadline.

For the Hawks, they’d be getting a quality power forward eager to re-prove his value. In his first five games under interim head coach Earl Watson, Keef has become the team’s No. 1 option on offense, averaging 20.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game on 44.8 percent shooting.

If Atlanta avoids blowing up its roster, Keef would be a terrific sixth man coming off the bench behind Paul Millsap and even better, he’s on a bargain contract with three years and $24 million remaining on his deal.

However, if McDonough is desperate to move Keef, it’ll likely be for future draft picks to aid the rebuilding process, not a quality point guard with only a year and a half left on his contract in a win-now move. Morris’ trade value is low right now, meaning the Suns would have to include a draft pick of some sort in a deal like this.

If the Hawks aren’t blowing it up, Millsap would be the foundation of their team moving forward. Trading Teague for Keef wouldn’t be addressing a position of need and Morris’ reputation as a head case might make some teams hesitant to trade for him — especially after Wednesday night’s incident with Archie Goodwin.
