The Sacramento Kings are competing for a spot in the postseason, and Rajon Rondo has played an intricate role in that development. The bottom half of the Western Conference is admittedly weaker than it usually is, but Rondo has revitalized the Kings in 2015-16.

Not only is he leading the NBA in assists by a landslide, but the 29-year-old has gone as far as becoming an efficient 3-point shooter.

Rondo has already made 13 more 3-point field goals in 2015-16 than he’d converted in any other season. He’s done so on 35.8 percent shooting from beyond the arc and an efficient mark of 45.2 percent from the field—signs of his improvement.

Free throw shooting is still an issue, but Rondo is converting at a clip of 57.5 percent—17.8 percent higher than his mark from 2014-15.

In recent games, Rondo has turned it up a notch. This past week, he recorded at least 15 assists in all four of his appearances, including an outing against the Boston Celtics during which he tallied 14 points, 15 dimes, five rebounds, and six steals.

It’s understandable to be skeptical of Rondo given the tumultuous campaign that was 2014-15, but with or without a selection, he’s playing at an All-Star level again.
