7. Los Angeles Lakers: Aaron Gordon, Arizona

Original selection: 4th by the Orlando Magic

2015-16 statistics: 7.8 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 0.7 BPG, 16.96 PER

Aaron Gordon was a high school sensation and another player who was an expected one-and-done at the University of Arizona. He lived up to expectations in his solo season finishing in the top 30 players for the Naismith College Player of the Year list and taking All-Pac 12 first-team honors as well as Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

Gordon went through an adjustment period in his rookie season, but followed it by dominating the summer league months later. Gordon now is earning more time on the floor and has started nine game for the struggling Orlando Magic.

The Magic will likely miss the playoffs again, but Gordon is gaining valuable experience in order to be a big piece of the puzzle in rebuilding a playoff contender in the coming years.

Many would take Julius Randle over Aaron Gordon more times than not, but if Randle was selected earlier in the actual 2014 draft, Gordon wouldn’t be a let-down. Both players are extremely athletic and can rebound at an alarming rate.

His numbers would have been better if he was drafted by the Lakers because playing time would’ve been there from the start, and he would most likely be one of the guys the team would want to build around, much like Randle is currently.
