Redrafting The 1st Round Of The 2014 NBA Draft
3. Philadelphia 76ers: Jordan Clarkson, Missouri
Original selection: 46th by the Washington Wizards
2015-16 statistics: 15.2 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.5 APG, 14.27 PER
Jordan Clarkson is the obvious steal of the 2014 NBA Draft. When the Washington Wizards drafted him in the middle of the second round, no one was aware of how productive he could be as a pro, even the Wizards. They traded Clarkson … FOR CASH. Still a move that haunts Washington to this day.
Now, Clarkson is one of the players that the Lakers plan on building their future around. Of the recent draft picks in Clarkson, Julius Randle, and D’Angelo Russell, Clarkson seems to be the one the Lakers want to keep no matter what.
With Kobe Bryant finishing up the last season of his career, Clarkson is expected to play a huge role in getting the Lakers back into the Western Conference playoff picture.
Clarkson is exactly what Philadelphia needs–a guard who can score from all three levels. It’s no surprise to say their point production comes in large part by their young and talented big men. Put Clarkson into the backcourt with Ish Smith, and the Sixers could continue to improve on a dreadful start to the 2015-16 season.
