27. Phoenix Suns: Cleanthony Early, Wichita State

Original selection: 34th by the New York Knicks

2015-16 statistics: 0.7 PPG 0.1 APG 0.2 RPG 7.14 PER

Cleanthony Early was a huge reason why Wichita State was able to put together a 34-0 record before losing to the University of Kentucky in the third round of the NCAA tournament. That being said, the Knicks drafting him in the second-round was expected to be a steal in this draft.

Looking at Early’s numbers this season, you wouldn’t think he would be worthy of a first-round selection, but he has experienced injuries and time in the D-League that has limited his games to just 10 for the Knicks.

In his rookie year during the obliteration of an NBA franchise as the Knicks won 17 games, Early was able to show that he could be a piece for the future in the bench production department.

At 6’8,” Early can contort his body smoothly in the air when he is on the fast break finishing around bigger players. The Suns have a few players in P.J. Tucker and T.J. Warren that play similar to Early, but Early size and length would make him a likely option in the second team coming off the bench. And we all know the Suns could use pretty much all they could get at this point…
