24. Charlotte Hornets: Mitch McGary, Michigan
Original selection: 21st by the Oklahoma City Thunder
2015-16 statistics: 1.1 PPG 0.9 RPG 0.1 BPG 4.75 PER
Mitch McGary is still a talent that has yet to be discovered in the NBA. A 6’10” left-handed big and with athleticism and an element of craftiness to his game makes him an exciting watch.
McGary recorded a few double-doubles in the games that he saw significant time as a rookie, but this season between the re-signing of Enes Kanter and the improved play from Steven Adams, minutes are scarce to say the least. McGary suffered an injury prior to the regular season, but he was cleared for the first official game.
He has only appeared in 14 games this season averaging just four minutes per game.
One part of McGary’s game that hasn’t been displayed is whether or not he can stretch the floor with his jump shot. The Hornets have Frank Kaminsky to fill the athletic role for them, but if they had drafted McGary, it could be possible they would’ve taken a wing in the 2015 draft.
