18. Phoenix Suns: Doug McDermott, Creighton

Original selection: 11th pick by the Denver Nuggets (later traded to the Chicago Bulls)

2015-16 statistics: 8.1 PPG 2.3 RPG, 0.6 APG 8.98 PER

Doug McDermott was named National Player of the Year after his junior season at Creighton. The three-time All-American decided to forego his senior season and enter the NBA draft with extremely high stock. His elite ability to score in college wowed NBA scouts, but there were causes for concern with McDermott’s questionable defensive skills.

When it was announced that McDermott would be traded to the Bulls, questions lingered of whether or not he would see the floor much since head coach Tom Thibodeau’s teams were known for their defensive toughness. Those assumptions would end up being correct after McDermott averaged 8.9 minutes per game during his rookie season.

Current head coach Fred Hoiberg has made sure to insert McDermott into the rotation and as a result, they have a legitimate outside shooter coming off the bench.

McDermott would be a good fit in Phoenix next to point guard Eric Bledsoe with his ability to cash in on kick-out three’s. Imagine McDermott and Derek Booker coming off the bench … Splash Brothers 2.0?

Probably not that good, but it would be fun to watch.
