3. Lionel Hollins

It’s highly unlikely the Knicks go with anyone who isn’t A) a disciple of Phil’s teachings or B) a sexy name, but Lionel Hollins deserves another chance after being unfairly fired by the Brooklyn Nets.

We’ve seen what Hollins can do when he actually has some semblance of talent on his roster, as he helped lead the Memphis Grizzlies to four straight 40-win seasons, including a 56-win season and Western Conference Finals appearance in 2012-13.

With a 196-155 record (.558) in Memphis, Hollins might be a more experienced candidate who could extract more wins and defense out of these Knicks.

However, Hollins hasn’t really been on anyone’s radar yet, and as a defensively oriented head coach, he probably doesn’t fit in with Jackson’s ideologies unless he suddenly displays a willingness and an aptitude for running the Triangle.

The Knicks are either looking for another puppet for Jackson to control or a bigger, flashier name to bring to the Big Apple. Hollins is neither, though the defensive values he’d be able to be instill are something this team really needs.
