Why do the Celtics do this?

The Celtics want desperately to contend. Every win from this squad just fuels the fire. The Bulls have a ton of issues, and it appears health will forever haunt that franchise. The Hawks don’t scare anyone, the Heat are just as likely to burn out as singe their opponent. Why not the Celtics? Harris would be a welcome addition to the team, he can play either forward spot and gives the Celtics some real flexibility. Sullinger is a pending free agent and the picks while valuable aren’t helping the Celtics today, tomorrow, or next week. (Don’t worry Beantown you’re still in the Ben Simmons sweepstakes.)

Why do the Magic do this?

This is a white flag deal, the Magic accept this isn’t the season they get back into the mix and stockpile even more assets. We all know the Nets pick could be absolute gold in a couple seasons, the Magic put themselves in a position to be players going forward. Like Barnes, the Magic would have the rest of the season to evaluate Sullinger and see if he’s the right fit long term with their already established core.
