The Atlanta Hawks have enough talent to be one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference. The general feeling around the NBA, however, is that the Hawks lack the necessary weapons to make a real run at a championship.

According to Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports, trading All-Star point guard Jeff Teague could be the route Atlanta chooses to follow.

A number of teams have since been revealed as those interested in landing the 27-year-old via a trade.

Ian Begley of ESPN New York revealed the New York Knicks as a team that had engaged Atlanta in exploratory talks on the Teague front. Andy Larsen of KSL.com reported that, “Multiple sources,” told him of the Utah Jazz’s interest in trading for Teague.

With a number of other teams looking for answers at point guard, there’s a legitimate possibility that Teague could be moved by February 18.

Teague is a lightning-quick player who has made his name as a slashing point guard who excels in attacking off the bounce and getting out in transition. He’s a solid facilitator who runs the pick-and-roll well, and plays selflessly within Atlanta’s team-first system.

More hoops habit: Has Kevin Durant finally passed LeBron James?

Whether it’s New York, Utah, or another destination, there’s little question that Teague will be a hot name on the trade market with Dennis Schroder champing at the bit.
