12. Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Philadelphia 76ers, Feb. 1, 2004

The Minnesota Timberwolves were in the midst of their signature season in 2003-04 and were coming back to Target Center in Minneapolis off a huge road win over the Los Angeles Lakers two days earlier.

The Philadelphia 76ers, on the other hand, were struggling at 20-27.

But it was the Sixers who seized the early advantage, blitzing the Timberwolves with a 36-23 first quarter. Philadelphia headed into halftime with a 63-52 lead.

That’s when Kevin Garnett went to work, scoring 12 of his game-high 32 points in the third period as Minnesota charged back to close to gap to just one, 80-79, heading into the final period of what turned out to be a 106-101 Timberwolves win.

Garnett, in the midst of his MVP season, had a KG kind of day, finishing with 32 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and three blocks on 13-of-23 shooting. For the season, he put up 24.2 points, an NBA-best 13.9 rebounds, five assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.5 steals per game on .499/.256/.791 shooting while leading Minnesota to the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

In Super Bowl XXXVIII at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Adam Vinatieri kicked a 41-yard field goal to lift the New England Patriots to their second straight title, 32-29 over the Carolina Panthers.
