20. Roy Hibbert, 2014

How Chosen: Reserve

The Indiana Pacers rolled into the All-Star break in 2013-14 with the second-best record in the NBA at 40-12 and that was likely the factor that propelled center Roy Hibbert to his second All-Star selection.

Hibbert was still ahead of his second-half fade to black, but went into the break averaging 11.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game on less-than-dominant-7-footer .464/2-for-5/.753 shooting.

2014 was the second year that the All-Star voting eliminated centers in favor of just selecting three frontcourt starters, so other candidates for this spot included Al Jefferson of the Charlotte Bobcats and Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons, also centers.

While Jefferson had the most noise made about him being snubbed by the Eastern Conference coaches, Drummond, in his second season, was back from a back injury that prematurely ended his rookie campaign and was breaking out in a big way.

At the break, Drummond was averaging 13.1 points and 13 rebounds per game on .611/0-for-2/.413 (yeah, well) shooting at the break.

But Detroit was 22-30, ninth in the Eastern Conference and half a game behind the eighth-place Bobcats, at the break.

Hibbert played 12 minutes in the East’s 163-155 victory at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, finishing with eight points, five rebounds and two assists and hitting 4-of-5 shots.
