Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers have been in the news a lot recently. Here’s how the OKC Thunder could make a deal for the All-Star if the price is right.

The Los Angeles Clippers are in one of the strangest positions in sports. They are a team with a championship-or-bust mindset, but don’t have a roster good enough to make it to the NBA Finals.

In the four-plus years since acquiring Chris Paul from the then-New Orleans Hornets, the Clippers have yet to make it past the second round.

Doc Rivers tried to strengthen his roster this offseason by signing multiple role players to surround their “Big Three” of Paul, DeAndre Jordan and Blake Griffin. After getting off to a rough start, the Clippers have turned it around and gone 15-3 in the 18 games Griffin has been out with injury.

Griffin has been out since Dec. 25 with a quadriceps injury, and will be out for at least another 4-6 weeks after punching an equipment manager last week. With the Clippers’ recent success without Griffin and the lack of it during the playoffs with him, Rivers could look to deal his young power forward.

While it is not likely and Griffin should be the last member of their Big Three to be traded, it is an exciting possibility.

This is where the Oklahoma City Thunder step in. The Thunder are one of the few teams in the league with true title aspirations who could use another star player to help them get past the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs.

Since the Thunder have such a strong roster, they have some pieces that they could deal in order to land Griffin. The Clips would not want to deal Griffin to an in-conference rival, but the Thunder have players on their roster that could help them win now and in the future.

OKC also has the pieces to win games while Griffin recovers from his injury before returning shortly before the playoffs start.

There are a few different possibilities that would work for both sides, and work in the ESPN Trade Machine.
