5. D’Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers

Russell has been among the best rookies in my rankings since the second week of the season and he’s kept a tight grip on his spot for a reason.

Almost any team would take a chance on a 6-foot-5 scoring point guard who has the court vision to potentially lead the league in assists one day.

He’s shown a better handle and more consistent jump shot of late making him one of the most valuable players in this draft class. Even though he’ll always be subject to rumors until he’s an established superstar because he’s in a star-driven market like Los Angeles I think Russell’s ceiling as a special player is very high and eventually he’ll label himself as untouchable.
