Why do the Los Angeles Lakers do this?

This might be the most interesting trade of the three. The Lakers get two quality starters to add to their core, one of whom still has a rather high ceiling. Bradley Beal‘s growth has been stunted in Washington, in a large part due to injuries.

That being said, he’s a former third overall pick and has a lot of game left in his career. Marcin Gortat is one of the least appreciated talents the league has to offer at the center position. Lakers cash in on a good pair here.

Why do the Washington Wizards do this?

They also want to be players in free agency, this gives them a ton of options this offseason. Hibbert is basically just a big cap dump at this point. Russell and John Wall could be a phenomenal backcourt for years and years, and should the Wizards succeed in bringing home a certain superstar it’d be quite the trio.
