Why do the Los Angeles Lakers do this?

Brook Lopez is the real deal, he’s a sensational player and he isn’t getting a chance to truly broadcast it in Brooklyn. At 27 years of age, Lopez could be the Lakers’ next long-term All-Star big man. Lopez might also help the Lakers look a tad more legitimate come the offseason. While Jarrett Jack isn’t a high end starter, he’s a great third guard, and would likely be a welcome addition to the Lakers’ second unit (once he’s healthy again).

Why do the Brooklyn Nets do this?

The Nets are hooped. They have no picks, slim chances of being a player in free agency, and need a change in direction overall. Getting the former No. 2 pick in the draft is more than they are even dreaming of at this point.
