Ryan Anderson

Ryan Anderson would probably be a better option for the Lakers than Morris.

Anderson has already proven his mettle as a threat to fill it up off the bench in his stints with the Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans. However, this doesn’t make the fact that he’s scoring 17 points per game (first among bench players) on 39 percent shooting from three in just 30 minutes of play a night any less impressive.

The Lakers are clamoring for a three-point threat as mentioned before as well as a frontcourt player who can score consistently, and Anderson can provide both of those things.

More from Hoops Habit

Logistically, the same trade involving Nick Young and Brandon Bass would work. However, the Pelicans might feel that such a trade finds them getting the short end of the stick.

Allow me to argue otherwise.

The Pelicans would love to have a bruiser like Bass either paired with Davis in the starting lineup or adding to a bench unit that ranks first in the league in bench points and ninth in rebounds. Also, a proven scorer like Young will be needed to make up for the massive chunk of offense the Pelicans will be losing in Anderson.

Still, the fact that both have long term deals might be a deterrent to a Pelicans team stuck between competing for the eighth seed in the West and scrapping aging veterans to rebuild around Anthony Davis.
