3. Memphis Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies have an All-NBA center in Marc Gasol, a bruising interior scorer in Zach Randolph, and a well-rounded point guard in Mike Conley. The likes of Tony Allen, Jeff Green, and Courtney Lee round out a very solid perimeter, which provides Dave Joerger’s crew with the balance to consistently contend.

Memphis simply will not take the next step until it lands a perimeter weapon who can take over in isolation.

Green was supposed to be that player, but he’s fit in as more of a complementary piece than a featured scorer. Tyreke Evans wouldn’t have that problem, as he’s long been known to take the initiative in finding his own shots.

That can be a bad thing under some circumstances, but in Memphis, it’s exactly what they need.

Evans’ aggressive approach to offense could alter the Grizzlies’ reputation entirely. They’re a relatively complete team, but the absence of an isolation playmaker is an undeniable weakness that hinders its chances against explosive offenses.

Memphis may be better off adding a player who can hit the 3-ball, but Evans’ ability to create penetration would address a clear weakness.
