Gerald Henderson is athletic, long, shooting 36 percent on three-pointers this year, on an affordable expiring contract. The Portland Trail Blazers should look to see if they can get an asset for him on the trade market.

Gerald Henderson is a useful no-risk player for a contender who could use more depth on the wing but doesn’t want to add future salary. He’s a versatile player who can play on and off the ball and has the length and athleticism to fit seamlessly into any defensive scheme.

Henderson is still a positive contributor for the Portland Trail Blazers but he’s getting minutes that could be better allocated to younger high upside players such as Maurice Harkless.

The Blazers have more cap space than they could do anything with right now and aren’t contending this season so it would make a lot of sense to try to deal Henderson for a pick or young player.  Don’t let that spot in eighth place fool you–this team still shouldn’t be trying to make the playoffs.

The most important thing for the Blazers to do at this stage of their rebuild is to give themselves as many chances as possible to pick up young cheap players who could support Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum when Portland is ready to contend. Here are some teams that could trade for Henderson.

For the potential trades just add or subtract picks to the trades where you feel is necessary. That way everybody’s happy!
