After posting one of his most underwhelming weeks of the season, LeBron James righted the ship over the past seven days. He led the Cleveland Cavaliers to three wins in four games, re-emerging as one of the NBA’s preeminent facilitators in the process.
James recorded at least nine assists in all four outings, including a 22-point and 12-assist performance in a 115-102 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.
James’ 26 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists weren’t enough against the Chicago Bulls, but his final two performances of the week were an indication of how Tyronn Lue expects to run his offense. For starters, James had 25 points and nine assists on 11-of-15 shooting in a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
To close out the four-game period, James registered 21 points and nine assists on 7-of-8 shooting in 31 minutes during a blowout of the Phoenix Suns.
Lue wants to run Cleveland’s offense through James, which means trusting him to do what he does best: create. James is a legendarily consistent scorer, but he’s also a masterful facilitator who can set the table for his teammates.
With 39 assists in a four-game period, James proving how comfortable he is in such a role.
