Kobe Bryant: 50 Greatest Moments of Black Mamba’s Career
34. Banks It In!
By this point, it’s been well-established that Kobe Bryant is clutch. Regarded by many as one of the Kings of the Fourth Quarter, Bryant always wants the ball in his hands when the game is on the line.
The Miami Heat found that out the hard way on December 4, 2009.
In one of the many memorable clashes between Bryant and Heat star Dwyane Wade, Bryant did what he does best: took over in the fourth quarter. He’d scored a solid 16 points through three periods, but it was that final 12-minute frame that was so special.
Bryant scored 17 points during the fourth quarter, including a game-winning buzzer-beater.
It was a classic duel between Bryant and Wade, who tallied 26 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds. Wade also defended Bryant to near perfection on the final possession, but the legendary Laker still found a way to bank in the game-winning 3-point field goal.
There wasn’t anything more the Heat could’ve done.
