37. 2007 All-Star Game

In 2007, there was no true consensus on who deserved the label of, “Best player in the world.” Kobe Bryant seemed to have earned the honor in 2005-06 and 2006-07, but Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki took the respective MVP awards.

It was LeBron James who received the most fan votes for the 2007 NBA All-Star Game.

With all possible honors going away from Bryant’s grasp, he took it upon himself to silence the critics. He dominated the All-Star Game, going directly at the very players who had been labeled by some as his superiors.

James scored 28 points, but Bryant was the MVP and dominant player of this clash.

Bryant recorded 31 points, six assists, five rebounds, and six steals en route to a 153-132 Western Conference victory. It was a signature performance from a tremendous season that included a streak that’s soon to be acknowledged.

In one exhibition game, Bryant solidified his place as No. 1—whether the general population wanted to admit it, or not.
