Why do the Orlando Magic do this?

The Magic have improved immensely, they’re building something, and to this point Victor Oladipo hasn’t fit in this season. His best games have come in relief of Elfrid Payton at the point guard position, but he isn’t a true pass-first player. In a rather shocking twist, he was moved to the bench earlier this season and the team has failed to properly utilize him.

Enter the Nuggets and a chance for a change of scenery. The Magic get back an older player in Gallinari, established in his ways, a player who they know can spread the floor and can play either forward position in the frontcourt.

Why do the Denver Nuggets do this?

The Nuggets get the struggling but talented Oladipo. Oladipo is a gamble because to this point he has struggled to put it all together. That being said, Oladipo was the second overall pick in 2013 for a reason. He’s a talented combo guard with A-plus athleticism, great quickness, and keen defensive instincts.

While the Nuggets would be rolling the dice to some extent on Oladipo he has shown promise. Perhaps Mike Malone can get more out of the young Indiana product.
