3. Atlanta Hawks

Believe it or not, the Atlanta Hawks would be far more inclined to turn this deal down than the Cavaliers would. With Paul Millsap averaging 18.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game this season, Atlanta’s stretch-4 is far closer to All-Star territory than Cleveland’s power forward right now.

Long-term, Millsap’s age (30) makes him less attractive than the 27-year-old Love. But the Cavaliers are clearly all in on a championship sooner rather than later, which makes sense since LeBron has already turned 31. Why not add a more versatile defender, passer and all-around player like Millsap?

Though he’s only shooting 30.5 percent from three-point range this season, Millsap did convert 35.6 percent of his 3.0 three-point attempts per game last season. As a player who’s used to being underrated, there’s little chance he’d resent playing third fiddle to LeBron and Kyrie the way that Love probably does. His contract (three years, $60 million) is also much more attractive.

Unfortunately, there’s also Atlanta’s angle to consider. While turning Millsap into Love would have been a steal just two years ago, it’s gotten to the point where many would prefer having a two-way player like Millsap over a player whose trade value is rapidly diminishing like Love.

This would be a home run deal for Cleveland, but it would make very little sense for the Hawks and their continuity.
