If the 2015-16 NBA regular season were to end today, the Sacramento Kings would make the playoffs. That’s something that the loyal fans in Sacramento have been waiting to hear since DeMarcus Cousins was selected at No. 5 overall in the 2010 NBA Draft.

With a more efficient approach to the game, Cousins has the 18-23 Kings in control of their own destiny entering the second half of the regular season.

Sacramento won all three of its games over the past week, including an upset of the red-hot Los Angeles Clippers. Cousins tallied 19 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists against Los Angeles, which followed his 36 points and 17 assists during a road win over the Utah Jazz.

To complete the week, he dropped 36 points and 16 rebounds on 13-of-22 shooting during a road win against the Los Angeles Lakers.

After shooting just 39.1 percent from the field in December—an unacceptable mark for any player, let alone a big man—Cousins is up to 50.0 percent in January. He’s averaging 31.7 points and 13.7 rebounds during those nine games, and has made 45.5 percent of his 3-point field goal attempts.

Behind Boogie’s efforts, Sacramento has won six of nine.
