1. Omer Asik

2015 contract: Five years, $60 million

2015-16 statistics: 3.1 PPG, 5.4 RPG, 0.4 BPG, 16.7 MPG

Asik could be tried for robbery when evaluating the contract he signed compared to his production. After having a solid season last year averaging 7.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, Asik has taken an enormous step back.

In the beginning of the season, Asik was sidelined with a right calf strain that he suffered early in October. He began the season on a minutes restriction, but even now that he is healthy and starting, his minutes continue to stay at a bench player’s rate.

With the obsession of small-ball teams in the NBA, the Pelicans often feature Anthony Davis at center and Ryan Anderson at power forward, which leaves the only position for Asik on the bench.

It’s scary to think that New Orleans is stuck with Asik’s contract at least for another four years, but they bit on the season he had last year and now must pay the consequences. If teams aren’t biting for Tyson Chandler’s contract, Asik’s is definitely immovable.
