Not everyone loves him, but Dwight Howard is one of the most accomplished players of his era. He’s led a team to the NBA Finals, won three Defensive Player of the Year awards, and owns five All-NBA First Team appearances.

He may not be as explosive as he used to be, but Howard is still one of the most valuable players in the NBA.

The 30-year-old has been limited in his touches, but that hasn’t prevented him from putting forth an excellent season in 2015-16. He’s No. 2 in the NBA in free throw percentage, No. 3 in rebounds per game, No. 5 in offensive rebounding, and No. 12 in blocks per contest.

Nevertheless, Calvin Watkins’ recent release acknowledges the Sheridan Hoops report that Howard wants out of town.

Howard’s becoming more involved in the offense, and that decision is paying dividends. Over the past 10 games, he’s averaging 18.9 points, 13.4 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1.2 steals on 64.9 percent shooting from the field.

It’s no coincidence that, in the midst of Howard’s turnaround, Houston has won six of seven.
