Corey Brewer is the proverbial NBA spark plug. He’s prone to cold streaks, turnovers, and defensive lapses, but the gambles he takes within the flow of a game pay off enough times that he can be viewed as an asset.

That’s exactly what he was for the Houston Rockets in 2014-15.

Brewer’s most memorable performance for the Rockets was his 19 points in a comeback win over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals. That game encompassed what’s been known about Brewer since Day 1: when he gets hot, he gets hot.

The rest of the time, you learn to live with the inconsistency.

Teams in need of perimeter depth could consider Brewer as a potential option. Unfortunately for Houston, he’s in the first season of a three-year, $23,420,913 contract—something that will deter a number of potential suitors.

Trading Brewer is possible, but he’d likely need to be a part of a package deal.
