NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Teams That Should Trade For Brandon Jennings
1. Houston Rockets
This is a risky gamble for the Detroit Pistons, to be certain. More than likely, Stan Van Gundy would prefer to ride this season out and see how Brandon Jennings performs. But if the Pistons don’t think Jennings will be worth re-signing and prefer to trade him rather than let him walk this summer for nothing, Ty Lawson would definitely be available.

Lawson has been having a miserable season for the Houston Rockets, averaging 6.2 points and 4.1 assists per game on 36.9 percent shooting from the field and 32.3 percent shooting from three-point range. With the exception of the assists, those are all career lows, which is why Houston might jump at the chance to inject life back into Jennings’ career.
However, the Rockets have been dealing with a ton of instability in the head coaching department, which is something that the Pistons have going for them these days. With an elite center like Andre Drummond, Van Gundy might be able to figure out how to get Lawson’s career back on track in Drummond pick-and-rolls with shooters spread out all around the perimeter.
Lawson has been playing better recently, and though his $13.2 million contract for 2016-17 is a hefty price to pay, it’s also non-guaranteed. If the Pistons are convinced re-signing Jennings won’t be a priority, why not move him and take a chance on a player who needs a change of scenery like Lawson?

Again, this is a risky move, but the Rockets have had Lawson on the trade market for weeks now. If he didn’t work out in Detroit, the Pistons could always just cut him and trade him before his entire 2016-17 salary becomes guaranteed.
