4. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks have been searching for an upgrade at point guard, which makes sense since their two options right now are an aging Jose Calderon and rookie Jerian Grant. If Brandon Jennings can go back to the player he was last season in Detroit, he’d be a clear-cut upgrade until Grant proves himself to be 100 percent NBA-ready.

However, it’s worth noting that the only possible reason the Pistons would be interested in a trade such as this is that Calderon has an extra year on his contract at a fair price of $7.7 million. If the Pistons don’t want to deal with the Reggie Jackson-Brandon Jennings battle for minutes, or if they don’t want to venture into Jennings’ free agency, this could be one avenue to take.

For Detroit, they’d probably want the Knicks to include future draft compensations of some sort, but from New York’s vantage point, that would absolutely have to be a deal-killer. Jennings would be an upgrade at the 1-spot, but he’s not worth sacrificing the future over as Phil Jackson continues his rebuild around Kristaps Porzingis.
