4. James Harden

We’re cheating a little bit here, since James Harden‘s beard is a big part of the reason why he’s on here. But between possessing the league’s best facial hair AND the mohawk combo, can we agree that Harden probably deserves a spot on the list no matter what?

After all, it’s not often an NBA player looks like the black King Leonidas. Just be careful if you plan on eating anything that man makes when he starts cooking:

“Fear the Beard” has been used to describe a number of athletes across a few different professional sports, but as MVP runner-up last season and a guy who’s putting up 28.0 points, 6.8 assists and 6.0 rebounds per game this year, it unequivocally belongs to James Harden now.

Harden’s not the most likable superstar in the NBA right now, and his Houston Rockets haven’t gotten off the greatest start at 21-19. But even if unkempt, bushy beards aren’t really your thing, you have to respect a guy who takes the court every night looking like he’s ready for war.
