Prior to their matchup Tuesday night, Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant said that Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns would be a Hall of Famer.

Kevin Durant gave high praise for Karl-Anthony Towns prior to their match up on Tuesday evening.

"“He’s going to be a Hall of Famer in this league,” Durant said, according to Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press."

This is one big compliment coming from the former MVP. Towns is averaging 15.8 points per game, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks as well as shooting 53 percent from the floor. Towns has shown dominance in his young career already, and although it’s an early assumption from Durant, it’s hard to doubt him.

Towns has shown different sides of his game. Coming into the league, much of the debate between him and Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor was on offense. Okafor was thought of as a more polished offensive threat, while Towns was more solid defensively. This may have been a bit overstated, as Towns’ offensive game has shown monumental improvements.

He’s shown the ability to step off the block and knock down shots. He has yet to really try behind the arc, but he shoots 46.9 percent between 10 and 16 feet, and that number does not drop off much when he shoots from 16 feet right up to the three-point line, as he’s shooting 45.7 percent.

Not only does Durant seem to admire Towns’ game, Towns also had previously encountered Durant as a high school player.

Karl-Anthony Towns should be considered in the mix for the Rookie of the Year award, and even if he falls short of that, his dominance is being noticed by some of the top players in the league.
