Next 4 Games A True Test For Mavs
By Cole Mentzel
Game 2 – Oklahoma City Thunder (Jan. 13)
In their first meeting of the season, the Mavs and Thunder performed in a thriller. Though OKC ultimately ended up with a 117-114 win, the Mavs didn’t back down when Russell Westbrook took over late.
This game will be on the second night of a back-to-back as the Mavs will be coming off of their game with the Cavs. Don’t be surprised if they rest a few of their starters because of that. It’s something Rick Carlisle has been known to do and with the test remaining later in the week, it’s a plan that he will most likely decide to put into action.
If that is the case, it’s going to be very difficult for the Mavs to beat a team led by Kevin Durant but it won’t be impossible. They have beat the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans without players like Williams, Matthews and Nowitzki.
It will all come down to how Raymond Felton (two 20-plus point games without starters) and the rest of the team responds to a very difficult environment at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
