No. 1 Gunner of the Week- DeMarcus Cousins

Now if you have been a loyal reader of this column, you’ll notice not many big men will make appearances unless they can consistently stretch the floor. Well, if you haven’t noticed, Cousins is now a threat from beyond the arc … scary, I know.

Cousins absolutely dominated this week putting together 30+ point efforts in the four games played–the other game he finished with 29. Throughout the seven-day span, the Kings managed to go 2-2. Cousins’ best performance came in a 116-115 loss to the Mavericks when he went for 35 points and 17 rebounds. In a win against Oklahoma City, Cousins had another big performance finishing with 33 points and 19 rebounds.

The Kings are 15-22 on the year–good enough for ninth place in the West. On paper, they have one of the most talented rosters in the NBA, but chemistry was a huge issue early on. If Cousins can keep his cool on the court along with point guard Rajon Rondo and the role players can do their jobs efficiently, it won’t be too off the wall as it once sounded to say the Kings will have a decent shot of making the playoffs when it’s all said and done.
