What’s up, everybody? For those who are returning readers of Giacubeno’s Gunners, welcome back! For those who are new visitors, let me explain what I do here on my weekly column.

Each week, I break down the top scorers from the prior seven days of NBA action and rank the top five scorers with the No. 1 receiving the Gunner of the Week Award. At the end of the season, there will be an article released that has Gunner of the Week first and second team, based off their performances throughout the season.

As always, let’s start by taking a broad view of how the association is shaping up thus far. Golden State remains unstoppable with a league’s best 36-2 record and have now won seven-straight games. It looks more and more likely that when the season is winding down, they will be in the running to make a run for the all-time record of 72-10.

The San Antonio Spurs are doing what they always do, winning and staying out of the spotlight. Although it’s hard not to talk about them with their 33-6 record, they still aren’t getting anywhere near the publicity the Warriors are getting despite putting together a tremendous first-half of the season.

Very, very quietly, the Clippers are on a nine-game winning streak to lead the NBA. Oh yeah, and this is without Blake Griffin! It seems as if throughout their streak, Chris Paul has a lot more space on the floor to work pick-and-rolls with DeAndre Jordan and is having more success sucking the defense in to create open shots for teammates.

In the crazy Eastern Conference, one thing remains a constant, the Cleveland Cavaliers rule supreme. Kyrie Irving returned back into the lineup and they are starting to take form of a dangerous championship contender with a 26-9 record. The teams in second to eighth place are separated by just four games total, so each game the standings are due for a shakeup. It will be interesting to see if one of those teams can separate themselves a bit before heading into the All-Star break.

Let’s take a look at the players who have been crowned Gunner of the Week previously:

Week 1: Stephen Curry

Week 2: James Harden

Week 3: Russell Westbrook

Here are the top performers from the past week in the NBA.
