5. Tom Thibodeau

You can expect Tom Thibodeau’s name to pop up in regards to any head coaching vacancy in the NBA these days. It makes sense; he’s easily the best candidate on the market after going 255-139 (.647) with the Chicago Bulls.

No matter what job you’re talking about, Thibs’ defensive principles, knowledge of the game and dedication to extracting every ounce of effort from his players has never been in doubt.

However, it’s worth mentioning that as great as Thibs can be, this current Nets roster probably looks more unappealing than any in the league. From Thibodeau’s perspective, waiting it out for a more talented team that actually has a future might be more worth his while.

Unless Prokhorov goes all in on Tom Thibodeau and makes him a Godfather-type offer, I don’t see Thibs jumping at the chance to coach a team whose two best players are Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young.
