NBA Trade Rumors: Best Landing Spots for Taj Gibson
5. Brooklyn Nets
Before Taj Gibson was a super-sub for the Chicago Bulls, he was a standout for the USC Trojans. Before those collegiate years and his breakout success as a high school basketball player in California, he lived in Brooklyn, New York.
Who doesn’t want to go home?
Chances are, the Brooklyn Nets would have to trade Thaddeus Young to Chicago in order to acquire Gibson’s services—something it may prove unwilling to do. If it were to pull the trigger, Gibson would operate alongside starting center Brook Lopez.
That duo has a physical edge to it that Lionel Hollins proved capable of exploiting with the Memphis Grizzlies.
It’s unclear whether or not Gibson would be happy about a trade to a team that isn’t on pace to make the playoffs, but he would be home and playing big minutes. He’d give Brooklyn a versatile front line that plays with both physicality and a strong measure of skill.
Intriguing as that may be, it’s hard to call an 10-25 team in a resurgent Eastern Conference the best possible destination for Gibson.
