Cleveland Cavaliers: Iman Shumpert

2015-16 Salary: $9 million
2016-17 Salary: $9.7 million
2018-19 Salary: $10.3 million
2019-20 Salary: 11 million (player option)

Honorable Mention: J.R. Smith

When most of your roster is on a max contract, it makes narrowing the field down incredibly easy and excruciatingly difficult all at once. LeBron James, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Anderson Varejao and Tristan Thompson (definitely, definitely Tristan Thompson) are all on massive deals that automatically disqualify them, leaving us with Iman Shumpert, J.R. Smith and Matthew Dellavedova.

Shumpert has the largest annual salary of the three, but Delly becomes a restricted free agent this summer and J.R.’s non-guaranteed salary only extends through next season. Add that to the fact that Shumpert’s return to the lineup has boosted the Cleveland Cavaliers‘ defense into top-five territory and he becomes the best answer.

His numbers aren’t eye-popping by any means, with the real-life Gerald from Hey! Arnold averaging 6.4 points per game on 40 percent shooting. But he’s knocking down 38.2 percent of his triples and his defense more than makes his salary worth it, especially since the rising cap will make it pretty much negligible down the road.
