Brooklyn Nets: Thaddeus Young

2015-16 Salary: $11.2 million
2016-17 Salary: $12.1 million
2017-18 Salary: $12.9 million
2018-19 Salary: $13.8 million (player option)

Honorable Mention: Shane Larkin

It kind of has to be Thaddeus Young by default, doesn’t it? Brook Lopez is making about $21 million a year for the next three seasons, four of the team’s bargain bin additions have player options for next season (including Shane Larkin) and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Chris McCullough are on rookie-scale deals.

And don’t even get me started on Joe Johnson’s $24.9 million salary this season, or the fact that Deron Williams will be making $5.5 million a year from the Brooklyn Nets through 2019-20 thanks to that much-needed buyout.

Still, Young is something of a bargain, even if his four-year, $50 million summer extension took some people by surprise. He’s not the kind of player that will attract free agents, but here’s the list of players averaging at least 16 points and nine rebounds per game this season: Andre Drummond, Kevin Love, Pau Gasol, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins…with Thad Young currently being just a shade below at 15.9 points per game.
