The Best Bargain Contract On All 30 NBA Teams
Los Angeles Lakers: Lou Williams
2015-16 Salary: $7 million
2016-17 Salary: $7 million
2017-18 Salary: $7 million
Honorable Mention: Nick Young
I mean, I guess? Lou Williams doesn’t figure to be a part of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ long-term rebuilding plan, and head coach Byron Scott is TOTALLY ruining “6 Man” by putting him in the starting lineup, but the reigning Sixth Man of the Year is the closest thing this team has to a bargain deal right now.
Why? In addition to his completely manageable $7 million annual salary over the next two and a half seasons, Lou Will will be the Lakers’ lone source of nightly, irrational entertainment after Kobe Bryant retires. Sorry Nick Young, but you’re just a little too inconsistent to earn that title.
Williams’ scoring numbers are down from last season, but his efficiency is up, with the Lakers’ starter averaging 14.0 points per game on 35.1 percent shooting from deep. D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson represent the future, but since their growing pains will be hard to watch at times, Williams holds value as a stopgap between now and the brighter future.
