New Year’s Resolution: Convert in Isolation

Ivan Rabb has wasted no time in becoming one of college basketball’s most productive offensive rebounders. That’s been the foundation for his offensive game, as the highly-touted freshman has selflessly accepted a tertiary scoring role behind Jaylen Brown and Tyrone Wallace.

Between his rebounding, shot-blocking, and team-first approach to the game, Rabb is one of the most intriguing prospects in this draft class.

The 18-year-old power forward is still raw offensively, but he consistently posts opponents up—a sign that he’s working to improve at a fundamental aspect of big man offense. His jump shot is still improving, but his early efficiency at the free throw line inspires hope that he could develop a dependable jump shot.

Moving forward, the task for Rabb will be to improve his individual offense. He mustn’t stray away from his tenacious effort on the offensive glass, but scouts will need to see more from Rabb in isolation.

If he can finish better out of the post and continue to expand his range, Rabb could be a Top 10 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
