FanDuel NBA: Best Picks And Lineup For Jan. 4
Punt Play of the Night: Jerami Grant, Philadelphia 76ers ($4,300) vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Grant has been an intriguing plug-and-play option dating back to last season because of his propensity for blocked shots (two points apiece on FanDuel NBA), but when the Sixers drafted Jahlil Okafor it looked as though Grant’s days of extended run on a bad team were over.
But between injuries to both Okafor and Nerlens Noel, Grant has continued to find opportunities to sneak into the first five and get around 25-30 minutes per game as long as he doesn’t blow his foot off, and for the most part that hasn’t been the case these days, especially against defensively challenged teams like Minnesota (20th out of 30 in PPG allowed).
In addition to blocking shots, the second year man from Syracuse is a capable rebounder (4.6 per game) and he can even hit the occasional three-pointer. The team seems committed to bringing the perennially glum-faced Okafor off the bench for the time being, so Grant is probably worth a flier vs. the lottery-bound teams until the situation changes again.
