6. Victor Oladipo

With Victor Oladipo in the starting lineup, the Orlando Magic started the season 6-8, with Dipo noticeably struggling from the perimeter. When Scott Skiles made the ballsy decision to move what might be the franchise’s most important foundational piece to the bench, he unlocked the key to this young team’s potential, with Orlando going 12-5 ever since.

The problem is, Oladipo has still been unable to find his groove playing against weaker second units. In 12 games as a starter, he averaged 12.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game on .370/.264/.750 shooting splits. In 17 games with the reserves, he’s posted 12.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game on .401/.261/.808 shooting splits.

To be fair, Oladipo’s point differential went from a -2.9 with the starters to a +4.6 with the second unit, but isn’t it a little bit concerning that A) Oladipo is shooting the ball so poorly this season and B) his move to the bench is what has Orlando playing its best basketball yet?
