NBA: 10 Players Failing To Live Up To Expectations In 2015-16
8. Tyson Chandler
The entire Phoenix Suns organization is in total disarray right now. There are major problems that need to be addressed, Eric Bledsoe will miss the rest of the season with a meniscus injury in his left knee, head coach Jeff Hornacek is on the hot seat and the Suns have lost 16 of their last 21 games.
But with Alex Len‘s development into a serviceable center being so crucial to this team moving forward, Tyson Chandler‘s mentorship of the 22-year-old Ukrainian is really the only thing he’s brought to the table at this point. The Chandler addition was originally meant to lure LaMarcus Aldridge to Phoenix in free agency, but that four-year, $52 million gamble didn’t pay off.
With Chandler having already missed eight games due to a hamstring injury and averaging a meager 4.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 0.6 blocks per game, he hasn’t brought much to the court. Even worse, his veteran experience hasn’t helped this young Suns team win close contests either, with Phoenix going 6-13 in games involving “clutch” situations, per NBA.com.
