8. Larry Bird and Robert Parish, Boston Celtics

Larry Bird and Robert Parish presided over a golden age of Boston Celtics basketball in the 1980s. Bird and Parish played together from 1980 until 1992, and over that span went to the NBA Finals five times and won three championships.

Before Bird was drafted in 1979, the Celtics went 29-53 in 1978-79. In his rookie season, they went 61-21, and he presided over a 32-game turnaround. Parish’s arrival in 1980-81 helped solidify the burgeoning Eastern Conference dynasty, and their first season as a duo went swimmingly as the Celtics went 62-20 and won the pair’s first NBA championship.

Bird and Parish’s Celtics boasted a record of 583-294, good for a winning percentage of 66.5 percent.

Those Celtics of the 1980s were the last great dynasty that the franchise had until 2007-08, when Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce joined forces to bring another title to Boston.
